Transcendence

Artistic Expressions of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness

Transcendence is a literary magazine of short stories, poetry, creative nonfiction, artwork, and photography that mediates on how artistic expressions of the transcendentals bring us closer to God. Seeking to “find God in all things,” Transcendence is a space for artists and writers to glorify God with their work together.

Selected submissions will be compiled into a physical copy with a launch party in mid-April, as well as be featured digitally. Transcendence is open to all for submission, and submissions do not have to be explicitly religious in nature (but they can be!). Any work or medium that meditates on truth, beauty, goodness, or God will be considered.

Transcendence welcomes a vast variety of work, including (but not limited to):

  • Poetry

  • Short stories

  • Creative nonfiction

  • Artwork (drawing, painting, digital, etc.)

  • Photography

Work should ponder, reflect, or express the transcendentals (truth, beauty, and goodness) in some way, and/or connect the transcendentals to the Divine. Submissions do not have to be explicitly religious (but they can be). The overarching goal of Transcendence is to creatively express how God can truly be found in all things. Any work or medium that meditates on truth, beauty, goodness, or God will be considered.

We ask that files be submitted as a Word or Google doc, or as a JPG image. Please limit yourself to no more than five submissions.

Submission Deadline: November 30, 2023
