About

A world-class French philosopher and historian of ancient philosophy, Pierre Hadot takes aim at what he saw as a fundamental failure of philosophy in the modern era to move beyond mere discourse about philosophy and into philosophy itself:  an art of living that cultivates wisdom. Drawing on his Catholic background, Hadot argued that the real substance of philosophy was spiritual exercises that transform the practitioner. Join us as we reflect on this classic work and our own quest for wisdom. This event is open for students only. Faculty and recent graduates should email admin@kateriinstitute.org to inquire about availability.

Instructor: Fr. Zachary Mabee (PhD, Univ. of Reading) completed his BA with distinction in philosophy and linguistics at the University of Michigan. A priest of the Diocese of Lansing, he serves as Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Sacred Heart Major Seminary.
